To prevent any misunderstanding or misinterpretations when problems occur during the softball season, the Pewaukee Predators’s Select Softball Organization Board of Directors has instituted the following Code of Conduct for players, managers, coaches, and parents. This has been distributed to managers, coaches, Board members, players, and parents in the hope that it will strengthen our organization.

By checking the acknowledgment box below as a parent or guardian of the player who is participating in the Pewaukee Predators’s Select Softball, I understand that I agree to have both myself and my child bound by the rules of player and spectator participation. I also understand that this is a Zero-Tolerance Policy and violating the code of conduct will be subject to discipline by the Board of Directors.

Code of Conduct for Players

As a player they agree to respect managers and coaches. It is their responsibility to listen to and follow the directions of the manager and coaches and to obey the rules set forth for the team. Respect team members and other players. Players will not insult, criticize or verbally abuse any player. This behavior destroys team spirit and will not be tolerated.

Physical outbursts are unacceptable and will be dealt with using the zero-tolerance policy. If a player is ejected from a game they will be disqualified to play in the next game. The ejected player will be required to sit on the bench in uniform during the suspension. In case of a second offense, the player will be disqualified from playing and attending the games for a year.

Players will not:
• Openly argue any decision by an umpire
• Use obscene language at any time, including swearing, even if not directed at a particular person
• Taunt other players or fans

Code of Conduct for Parents

As a parent or guardian of a player I agree to respect the coaching staff. I will take practices and games seriously by making sure that my child is available and on time as scheduled. All players are contributors to a team and should be encouraged by all parents. Insults or criticism will not be tolerated.

Display good sportsmanship at all times. Your child is learning to become a team player and will need the support for their attempts and outcomes. Parents and/or spectators who are ejected must leave the facility. Any parent or spectator who is ejected or is involved in unsportsmanlike conduct will be referred to the Pewaukee Predators’s Select Softball Organization Board of Directors. The Directors will decide if the parents or spectators will be allowed to attend further activities. It is also possible that the child/player may be removed from a team or suspended because of the inappropriate actions of a parent.

Parents / Guardians will not:

• Use vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone at any time
• Taunt players, coaches, officials, or other spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, or threat of physical violence.
• Throw any object on the field, at the spectators viewing area, or player’s bench as to create a safety hazard.
• Bother the coaches before, during, or after the game. Allow coaches to coach. If there is a question, concern, or suggestion bring it up to the Team Representative who will relay it to the coaches
• Try to coach from the sidelines, it will only confuse the kids on who to listen to. Instead offer encouragement for the kids
• Hang out around the dug-out. This is part of the playing field, please refrain from coming in or up to it without the permission of the coaches

Code of Conduct for Coaches

As coaches we will ensure that all criticism that is offered will be constructive and balanced with compliments. All players will be treated fairly and equitably within the rules. We recognize that softball is a big commitment for parents and keeping the parents informed as well as possible will ensure that the whole team is going in the correct direction.

I understand that the players are learning to be good sportsmen and team players are quick to copy all behavior they see, particularly that of the coaches. Respect will be shown to the coaches, players, parents and the opposing coaches, players, and parents at all times. The umpires and fans will also have the respect of the coaches.

Coaches who are ejected from a game will be referred to the Pewaukee Predators’s Select Softball Organization Board of Directors for possible removal from the organization. They must leave the facility at the time of ejection.

Coaches will not:

• Aggressively dispute or argue decisions by the umpire
• Use vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone at any time
